SVL Finals

The end of this year's SVL has arrived and both teams were playing for a medal. The Girls, winning the premiership this year, played their Semi finals match with their usual tenacity and superb skills and were more than ready to meet Manly, yet again, on the Gold Medal Match this weekend.

Winning with authority the first set, they had a tough second set, but managed to win it by the smallest margin after having 2 set points against.  2 sets to nil up, they where cruising 15-9 on the third, but Manly never gave up and managed to take the set with their diversity in attack. A hard fought forth set was also taken by Manly who took it to a deciding 5th set which proved too long for our amazing girls. A Silver medal was well earned after an amazing first season as a team.

Meanwhile in the other final match, this time playing for bronze, the boys started with all the flair they usually show and won a very comfortable first set against the resilient BHV.   Staying true to their skills, BHV managed to take the second set, but Cedars proved too strong and took the match and the bronze medal by 3 sets to 1.

Congratulations to both teams on a successful year and looking forward to see what 2014 will bring.

September 1st

On Father's day the cedars had a good test match against who will be waiting for them on the other side of the net in 2 weeks time for the semi finals. Having lost the last match against them, the team had a slow start but managed to show that they have evolved positively on many aspects of the game. Both teams ended up apart by only 6 points in the end, but was enough for UNSW to take the match 15-9 in the 5th set. Having no subs again and with a few players recovering from illness, it's hard to maintain the level needed to win this matches, but with a full strenght team there is no doubt the cedars are ready for the finals in 2 weeks time.

The girls continue their winning trend and finished 1st at the end of the competition rounds. They will play Dragons, who finished 4th on the semi finals. Well done to both teams.
